One of the things many of our holiday homeowners love about being able to stay here every time they travel to the area for their holidays is how close the park is to some of the best outdoor activities in Yorkshire!
We asked them to share some of their favourite excursions with us, which we’ve shared below…
Yorkshire is a popular place for cyclists due to its plethora of dedicated cycle paths and outstanding scenery! You can find some excellent route ideas on the Komoot website.
The Tour De Yorkshire is also hosted just five miles from Akebar Park every year! The race is divided into four different stages, with the second stage going from Barnsley and finishing in Bedale.
If you’ve ever fancied taking to the skies or exploring the beauty of Yorkshire from an entirely new angle, Yorkshire Gliding Club is just a 45-minute drive from Akebar Park, and offers a range of flight experiences for both individuals and groups, including children!
Just another ten minutes down the road from there is York Gliding Centre. Who knows, you might even be able to spot your caravan from your glider! You could make a day of it and explore the city of York before heading back to the comforts of your caravan or lodge.
For those who prefer to keep their feet firmly on the ground, the opportunities for walking, hiking and running are bountiful!
Nothing quite beats Yorkshire for its truly stunning scenery and access to nature and wildlife. Just a couple of examples of fantastic walks near Akebar Park are the deer park walk at Fountains Abbey and the two-and-a-half-mile loop around Aysgarth Falls.
Yorkshire certainly isn’t short of attractions for adrenaline seekers! Just down the road from Akebar Park in Ripon, you’ll find Lightwater Valley Theme Park, loved for its thrilling Splash Falls water slides and Flying Cutlass pirate ship.
You’ll also have access to Flamingo Land Resort, with its array of rollercoasters and thrill rides, as well as its delightful, award-winning zoo.
From Raygill Fishing Lakes to Coniston Hall and Kilnsey Trout Farm, you won’t be short of options for fishing during your trip to Akebar Park!
If you’re happy to travel a little further, be sure to visit our other park Brickyard Lakes just an hour down the road, which boasts two vast and thriving fishing lakes for guests and visitors to enjoy at their leisure.
